When they smile, you can see how bony they really are. Plus the models are probably starving. I'd be sullen too.

Vogue, (love your name btw)  --- I hardly look at magazines...I get tons of the catalogues in my mail but, toss in file 13 as soon as they hit my hand (just about)...I will now look over for what you say.  Your blog always gets me 'curious' ~  --- and leaves me pondering  ---- Elyse's u

Right on! I have little patience with those sullen posers.
In contrast, those starving kids on the "feed the children" commercials, with every right to cry, have beautiful bright smiles.

I agree with everyone here and you.

They need to smile, someone somewhere told them it's sexy to look like you have a corn cob up their ass (although, most of them are so tiny they couldn't get a raisin up there, and if they did - most likely their starved bodies would suck the nutrients too fast anyway) and that everyone owes them something and the smile is the most attractive attribute one can possess. And they all suck anyway.

Liked thinking about something different for a change.

I don't think they're angry at their clothes! They're projecting the currently fashionable type of woman, with a 'Wonder-woman-in-training' attitude, tough enough to single-handedly clear out a waterfront bar on a Saturday night...

Actually most of them one couldn't wear anyway. They're all raggy and
look inside out and torn and stuff. Or am I just old!

I know when I daughter was a teenager and she and her friends would take pictures they were always frowning and I asked her about that and she said it was suppose to be sexy

I agree with you in that we should not buy dresses from people that act with contempt towards us but being your neighbor ,you know that we see these girls ( and guys) all around.  They live and work down here and play down here as well.  As the Mom of one gorgeous son of 23, I have met a quite a few and without their make up and fancy dresses they are just beautiful young girls, some sweet, some not so sweet, but in no way average, and they do smile their bleached, million teeth smiles often.  I think it is the Designers that ask them to look blank, or aggresive, or whatever expression they think will frame their work better, for that is all these young models are to them, frames, hangers on which to hang their creations for display.  I agree with you in your dislike of those angry faces, but I asure you is not the girl's idea. Anyway, Great post!!

Re:
That too, sam, that too! I wonder how they are able to keep their balance, but then, one or the other DOES topple.

Very interesting peice. I have to say I've never thought about it before but, through your enlightenment I can see this as being true. I have noticed that at the Grammy's as well unless they win an award that the smile is genuine for most. From my  to your .

I've been noticing the same thing!

These girls and boys are so unappealing.  Their faces show that they a) have nothing going on upstairs or b)  they think they are so fabulous, the world owes them favors and they can't be bothered to be nice to anyone.  I really do think that a smile (a genuine smile) is the most beautiful accessory one can wear.  These models keep getting uglier and uglier!
