Not wierd at all, Vogue.  Many people wonder and fantasize.  Some people think that they know because of their religious beliefs.  Other people think that they can speak to them through mediums.  Everyone has different thoughts, wishes, and their own answers that give them comfort.

No it's a profound question and I feel that

people become energies connected to G-d to varying degrees, I guess depending on the way they have lived their lives. I think the soul energy is reborn into another physical shell depending on whether they have completed their destinies in this time.

It s as if we are connected to the one power source and are a part of it yet separate from it.

No, you're not weird.  When my Dad died suddenly, 25 years ago, I was in my mid-20s and had been very close to him.  My first thought was, "where did 'he' go?"  I'd been so used to talking to him and being able to find him whenever I needed him and it was inconceivable to me that he wasn't "there" anymore.  Several things happened to me right after he died that I can't quite explain; a sudden urge to change lanes in traffic right before an out-of-control truck backended the car where I had been a moment before, critically injuring the driver, for instance.  I felt as if my Dad were watching over me - and now 25 years later, I feel his presence every time I think of him.

I give you Love in comfort for your Loss dear Vogue ~ and its interesting what you suggest here --- I never thought of that.  I am so old school that I just believe we go to bliss and I don't think much more on it.  Now I'm pondering  ~ thank You ~ I do believe we're certainly at peace once in death ~  Elyse

I am sorry for your loss, but I feel that our loved ones continue to be part of our lives - I know mine are in some way still with me...and I think you have beautifully expressed some poetic notions...

It's heartbreaking to lose someone you love
and a mother is unimaginable. I lost my brother in September last year and am still coming to terms with it. Souls become little angels that watch over us.

That is an interesting perspective, vogue...You must miss your mom.  I believe that the people who influence us the most live on in us, since a part of us (through their influence) has become who they were.

Have you ever read any Wayne Dyer books?  I think you'll find them interesting - his CD set, Manifest Your Destiny is also powerful and gives one many things to think about.

My perspective: a body is a vessel for the soul while we are on earth...I think the soul lives on.  Here's a Wayne Dyer quote that I like...well I think that he's actually quoting someone else when he says this...can't remember who:  "We are spiritual beings having a human experience".

Thanks for your advice - I did reply to you in the comments section.

I am so sorry for your loss...
as to where souls go, I think they go to a place like heaven where they get to rest up until they come back to learn more lessons until eventually they learn all their lessons and then they finally get to go to heaven and be guardian angels for the people they have loved. Its as good as an explanation as any that anyone else has ever given me.

Sweet Vogue,

First of all, I am so sorry for your recent loss.  I believe that souls go to Heaven to the Father who created the body in which they lived.  I also believe that while we're alive, part of our soul goes to live in every other person we've touched...that way, we're never apart.

I hope that brings you some peace.

I believe, vogue, that life is a shifting monochromatic scale of
experiential cause and effect.  Reality does not hold well with the stark contrast of black and white.  Stay strong...

I like to watch
ghost hunters and paranormal state.  I don't know if the shows can really give you a solid explanation as to what happens to souls, but it is reassuring at the lengths spirits go to stay connected and let people know they didn't just forget everything after they passed, for better or worse.  Or maybe that's just my perception of things, but I feel  comfortable thinking that.  I'm very sorry about your mom. Take care

maybe this will help. i lost my father in 1992.......i still miss him terribly. Namaste

And if I go while you’re still here….

Know that I still live on.

Vibrating to a different message.

Behind a thin veil you cannot see through.

You will not see me

So you must have faith.

I wait the time until we can soar together again.

Both aware of each other.

Until then, live your life to the fullest.

And when you need me,

Just whisper my name in your heart.

…………I will be there.

very interesting. I believe their spirit lives on in those they left behind. I also believe their souls reside in heaven or hell looking over and allowing their souls/spirit live on in those they left behind but, who really knows.

Sweetie
the soul never dies...... my mum died 3 years ago but I still feel her presence today...... soul energy is all around us; good question though and very debate worthy; thank you and God bless

interesting take
however i remember in a book i read by guy finley (i believe it was "let go and live in the now") he said "thoughts are but mere shadows" and we ultimately choose what we think about and by living in the now (i also recommend "the power of now" by eckhart tolle) we can help to stop all the aimless thinking most of us daily partake in and for the souls after death have you ever given thought to heaven/hell
