You can expect to feel both of these feelings at the same time many times in your life as a mother, even when you are a grandmother watching your child parent!    Walking that line is actually one of your biggest tasks....being there to catch them when they fall, while you push them out to use their own wings.....

The umbilical cord...
I don't think it ever gets cut, our youngest is 26, has is own house, business and is going to get married in August.  We are going to see him tomorrow, so his mother can do his taxes!  They may go, but they are never far away.

Just put him in the hands of the Lord, pray and guide him. Sounds like he is doing well. he will have to bread away the dependence soon anyway. He sounds confident, that is good.

I think you are entitled to a little of both. But soon you will be happy for his independence.  sam
