You can't expect tact and good manners of the Senseless!

Boy Howdy
I certainly know what you mean - have you seen Sordid Lives? Now that is a hoot - funny, funny, funny. You write on - great stuff

I don't think it really matters what we do except to those still alive,

Common Senseless.  The dead are dead.  It's the sensibilities of the living we have to worry about.  Everybody gets so offended all the time over little things.  Personally, I hate funerals.  Boring, drab affairs.  Wakes are okay.  Give me an Irish wake over the gloomy reminiscent affair any day.  Better to celebrate in their remembrance than mope around, crying.

And welcome to Blogit.  Your dad's question was priceless.  A conversation in my family would have made it a statement by my dad with mom gently chiding him for saying it, while everybody else murmured assent.  Speaking ill of the dead is a superstition we don't much heed, but even my normally tactless father knows not to voice his opinion at the observance.  Great post.

I like you entry! It was grand. We shouldn't speak ill of the deceased. I like the idea of a theme for a funeral to take the edge of the circumstances!  sam

Care to read my piece "The last journey" posted in the travel section. I just gave my mom sort of a theme funeral and I very much hope she liked it. See ya!!

I think themed wakes are a hoot.......there's nothing WORSE than a "traditional" maudlin "event" where people stand around whispering to one another......."doesn't she look good?.......didn't they do a "good job"? I ALWAYS think to myself.....NO SHE LOOKS LIKE SHE'S DEAD.  I've already told my family.........no wake please....just burn me up.....throw my ashes across the street in the park.....have a "party" to honor my life (such as it was)............btw......welcome to blogit.......nice to see a "youngin" hanging around.
