Re: Nautikos
Thank you for your kind words, Wiley. It's gratifying to know that one's writing makes a bit of a positive difference in someone's life, and especially in the life of a friend...

Nautikos

I salute you for your serious posts here in this series. I have followed only sporadically and I confess to a simple fear of becoming embroiled with any whaco fundamentalists who did lurk about.

Matter of fact I did have a couple of comments made to me where I simply blocked the neanderthal's that made them, and accepted the fact that Muslim's are not my special cup of tea.

You are my friend and I respect the heck out of you for sharing your knowledge and I enjoyed learning from you over all of this, especially at a time in life where my own faith in all religions ended completely.

Thank you also for steering me~albeit unknowingly by you~ to a closer relationship with a God of my own understanding that I refer to as Jesus.

Thanks mostly for being my friend and for being a blogger of great talent.

I first came when you began the series. Now I intend to read it from the start. Congratulations.

Thank you very much indeed, and thank you also for your own welcome contributions, especially since you and I find ourselves at opposite ends of the 'faith spectrum'...

Re: Congratulations on completing this series!
Sorry, Ciel, I forgot to respond to your suggestion to put this series up for sale. I hadn't thought of that, but then, why not? Although I'd have to spend some time working on this thing, editing and such, and first I need a bit of time away from it and write some other stuff, the more so since this Islamist business will continue to occupy me...

You put a lot into this series and I appreciate how extensive it was and your readiness and willingness to so thoroughly answer questions and respond to comments.  Excellent work.

Re: Congratulations on completing this series!
Ciel, thank you very much. Actually I am a bit overwhelmed by this praise. And it is clear that you fully understand one of my central points, which I have tried to make repeatedly in various ways, and which I believe to be borne out by the evidence: throughout their often bloody history, Christians have frequently acted in spite of their faith; many Muslims act in accordance with theirs to this day!

Thank you very much for your kind words, which I really appreciate. Even  more so since they come from someone who knows I don't share her faith...

Congratulations on completing this series!

It is among the best things generated on Blogit ever, a great contribution to the blogisphere.  If you were to organize it as a Listing for Sale, I would be happy to add it to my library.

I appreciate your point about the difference between the initiator of one religion promoting violent domination of all other beliefs, and another who does not use that notion as a basic tenet.  In practical terms, Christianity has followed the same blindly, violently agressive path in many cases, and caused at least as much suffering and grief, but Christians can't lay the responsibility for that on Jesus.

Religions have sprung into being often to solve a great social problem.  I wonder what we need to solve the present problem of righteous and bloody intolerance.  I'm sure there are followers of lesser-known religions, less main-steam faiths that can jump in here eagerly with answers, such as Ba'hai.

Fanatic fervor burns hot and fast; rational, tolerant faith burns with a slower, steadier fire creating warmth and use for a longer time.  What we could use, maybe, is the occasional big bucket of cold water for those insane flare-ups!

I have enjoyed this discussion tremendously. I felt you have tried to present the information in a representative fashion that allowed for the facts to speak for themselves. Now that is completed I plan to revisited and read the work in its totality. I am very proud of you and the effort you have put into this series. You are a pro to the nth degree.  sam
