I agree with other comments - I could really feel the snow and picture the scene. The movie Fargo comes to mind - all that whiteness. Well done for making it entertaining.

Thanks Sira. I saw one of those roadside signs the other day that said it all -
'those who hurry have to stop more.'

It was,TAPS. Apart from my butt landing on ice, that is, but I suppose it is better than getting the cold shoulder.

Glad you're both safe!
Sounds like Ell is one of the few winter responsible drivers we've got in Canada!
Overtakers are common here too, but we just call them idiots. Most of them pass me as I'm put-putting down the road, in my car made of glorified tin-foil. And 10 minutes later, I pass them, because they've crashed or ended up in the ditch, or both.

I assume that when you fell, the snow was a soft cushion for your floundering around.

Thanks for the compliment, TAPS. As you say, we made it home in one piece - sure, we fell as we got out of the car, but that was acceptable.

Re: I was holding my breath reading this. I've been on a solid sheet of ice
That must have been one heck of a ride,Pat. I can't understand the overtakers - do they think they are invincible? The blizzard has passed on to some other unfortunates, but there is another one due today or tomorrow. At the moment the sun is shining, the river is freezing and it looks like wonder world - looks can be so deceiving.

Krisles
I drove for only 20 miles last year in freezing rain and it is something I will never forget - or do again. As for the snow, Krisles, you can have it. I'm sick to death of shoveling the evil stuff. We are at the stage now where we have nowhere to put it.

Changing climates is a good idea, sam. That's why most people in Canada fly south for the winter.

I was certainly cold, Azur - with fear. I seem to be having a lot of that lately.

I'm with you on the 'crawling along' part, SB. Driving in weather like that is suicidal, never mind overtaking in it.

I was assuming that since you were at a PC writing about it you must have made it home. But, you sure did a good job of telling it like it was. I felt like I was right there in the car with you.

I was holding my breath reading this. I've been on a solid sheet of ice
across Wyoming in January, a straight stretch of 100 miles and the wind making the road slither like a snake. We were driving entirely too fast, 45 MPH and cars passing us disappeared into the distance in seconds. I'd almost forgotten that time... Hope your blizzard conditions clear up soon and spring arrives. :)

I'm so glad y'all made it home safely.....I drove in a whiteout for 40 miles when I was 17 once and it made an impression on me I've never forgotten....I've never felt so disoriented. It's raining here in Dallas today, but we've been having Spring-like weather....I was just wishing for some snow yesterday....best I remember that old saying, "Be careful what you ask for, little girl"......
