It seems that the US army doesn't screen it's combatants for homicidal tendencies.  Or, maybe they prefer murderers.

I was shocked to read that up here in the papers too and it's sad to give out skewed news about one's own country by reporters. They ought to be charged. Good post my friend.

Re: Corbin Dallas,
That's because I am the good guy, Glenn......someday I hope you'll realize that........

I get tired of it myself..
But negativity is what people want to read and well, they are going to give people something to read.... Yeah it pisses me off too when people like to generalize everyone as a whole or one action as a personality. What gives them the right or what makes them know so much with only a little bit of fact. Brass Assumption is all it is. Oh well, people like it and they like to feel better about themselves so they have to make others around them worse than themselves to do so.

Corbin Dallas,
Whoa! Hold your horses! That article caught my eye as well! I did not get a chance to read it "yet". But, I am concerned that you are trying to skew statistics to your point with this post! It works for everybody, but you seem to want to take the credit for being the "good" guy!

Your last sentence says it all, CB
I think it's called sensationalism or just plain old 'let's make a story up about nothing.'  There's a lot of it going about.

The NYTimes Need To Retract This Story Now!
Corbin: I agree with you that the NY Times needs to retract this story now.  They are trying to paint a broad picture that portrays soldiers as killers.

Your research is an excellent example of how blogging may change the face of "journalism".....giving us permission right now to pass your great post around in our little circles....becoming ripples....and copying it onto any other sites we might have access to....fighting fire with fire.

It makes for "sensational" reading, I guess.  Put a spin on something, capture your reading audience, and leave them thinking "how terrible".  The National Inquirer may have reported that a certain percentage return home and have babies with two heads....

The Times is a rag that carries the liberal agenda overboard. Anything with Soros (spelling) behind it wouldn't print the truth if it automatically ran off the presses...

Journalists do that all the time, and it can get pretty dangerous. A friend once pointed out the famous African statistic 'one in every four people has HIV /AIDS, and said we should all go for a test right away just in case...we were all negative and very relieved. generalizations are always dangerous.

But we have to keep in mind that these are journaliss working for a living, and such crass statements sell papers. Journalists are very good at asking questions to get the answers they want. A reporter asks you 'Do you consider yourself racist?' and automatically you get defensive and end up looking like you have something to hide.

So since we can't change the journalists - they do what they do to put bread on their tables - we can either rant about it, stop buying their papers/watching their broadcasts/listening to their shows, or we can be sensible and not believe everything on the news.

It's journalism like this that gives the rest of us a bad name.

Corbin, NYT is becoming the closest thing to a tabloid each passing year.
The seed of doubt and contempt has been planted. Even if the retraction is printed it will show up on page 3, in a small out of the way column. I agree with Nautikos on this issue. Thanks for sharing this important news with all of us. IR

Excellent research! If I were you, I would definitely write an appropriate response, and raise hell at the NYT...
