Fair And Balanced
TV isn't a ''boob tube'' or ''idiot box'' depending on what you're watching at the moment.  Not everything or everyone is idiotic.  I suppose if you think that everyone or everything is idiotic; then it's idiotic.

Re: Bpitter2007,

I see TV as a window to look out of to see people going by. Since I am handicapped, I can't get out and meet people as I would like to. If I don't see them on TV and make my own review of who they really are, which I am truly good at, I wouldn't know much of anything about anybody. So TV has a purpose for some.

It's a "boob tube" when you use it as such. I use it as my window and I've learned quite a lot about the candidates just by listening to them not what others have to say about them. I judge them by their own words, not anybody elses. And I will go out and vote if there's one of them I wish to vote for. I'm still evaluating.

Thanks for your comments.

Bpitter2007,

Hmmm?? I am wondering when did "News" programs (ergo Television) become the source of our humanity? When did these people become the compass of moral direction? When did you stop calling "it" the "idiot box", "boob tube". etc...? These people have an agenda and they are paid very well by "corporate" zealots to keep it Kosher!

Now go out and vote for their next President!

Re: If you want fair and balanced on FoxNews, bpitter, you have to listen

YOU ARE ABSOLUTELY CORRECT! THANK YOU, Saul! I do listen to Alan Colmes but don't know Mort Kondracke. I love Glenn Beck and Lou Dobbs also.

You have "synopsidized" if there's such a word FOX to the nth degree. At least I'm not the only one who feels as you do. Thank you, thank you, thank you!

If you want fair and balanced on FoxNews, bpitter, you have to listen

to Alan Colmes and Mort Kondracke.  They're conservative but genuinely attempt to get the other side of a story as well.  People like Sean Hannity who yell, "Why do you hate America?  Why do you hate our troops?" every time someone who doesn't agree with his laser-thin ideology are simply educated idiots.

If you want bias on CNN, check out Glenn Beck.  He's ultraconservative but entertaining.  Lou Dobbs gets on his soapbox constantly but his show highlights people of diverse backgrounds and opinions.  He gives them their say and either agrees or refutes it.  He doesn't shout over them, call their patriotism into question, belittle them (except a couple of times when he slips and calls congressmen idiots or morons for some ridiculously asinine statement or policy stance).

No, FoxNews is a GOP propaganda tool.  No doubt about it.  And nobody will be able to give you any proof of 'fair and balanced' news reporting, either.  You will never hear a story about the president that puts him in a bad light.  Even stories like the current NIE fiasco.  Instead of just reporting the story, Fox begins the story with lines like "President Bush's enemies seem to have found more ammunition...".  Disengenuous and sympathetic.  Then fill the report full of White House spokespersons soundbytes.  Yeah, that's fair and balanced...

I Agree with you!

I watch MSNBC also, but there is mostly news on CNN during the day with no commentaries attached. Just plain news and that's what I like. At night, there's Wolf Blitzer who usually have pros and cons when they're discussing issues and have Republicans and Democrats to speak on his show. Dobbs and Glen Beck and Republicans but they also show opposing sides and give people a chance to explain their views. That's why I prefer CNN and MSNBC.

Thank you for your opinion. To me, it's nice to agree to disagree sometimes. Don't you think?

Fair And Balanced!
They favor Republicans but Alan Colmes asks tough questions of Republican guests.  CNN, with the exception of Lou Dobbs, favors the Democrats and liberals.  My personal preference is MSNBC.  For political coverage on television, they're the network that is fair and balanced.
