Equal opportunities for all parties or else the Democrats will complain to the Equal Opportunities Commission

to clear up my last post

I keep hitting the wrong button and cutting off my post. This time, maybe I'll get it right. I was saying I was only commenting on the size of the audience you said that FOX had and that they must have been doing something right.

My comment to that was my last post where I said the only thing they were doing right was accummulating deep pockets to keep the program up in the ratings and therefore obtaining advertising who wish to jump on the bandwagon also because of their stats.

I never commented one time on the FOX audience or viewers. I do not put people down on their views one way or another. We all have views and opinions and I respect each one because we are all the same, human beings. I was only indicating that FOX doesn't treat people equally or humane so that's why they are so controversial. I just want to get that point across.

...which is the fact that they have big money backing them up whereas other stations might not have those deep pockets. And I was saying that since advertising loves to get in on controversy, they jump on the FOX bandwagon to sell their products. What I was talking about had nothing to do with their viewers. I hope you understand that.

Thank you.

Re: To Offy

I am your age and on the other side of the track so to speak. I watch FOX and my family and it does not represent who we feel at all. How can you say that Sean Hannity is right when he jumps on people to give him a "yes or no" answer without explaining themselves. Everybody has the right to their opinion and if they don't agree with you per se, that doesn't give you the right to cut them off or make it seem that their opinion is not as good as yours. Am I right? When has being an American means you have to cut down your opponents? When did we get to the point of being rude and uncaring about what the other person has to say.

I was describing not a "viewer" of FOX, because I am a viewer myself. I was describing the best thing about FOX

I think you are selling the American public too short..What you have described as a typical viewer of Fox does not describe me at all. I am not rich and a commercial is a commercial no matter what the channel, that's business and has nothing to do with context..By doing something right I mean they have the audience and therefore all those millions of people can not be wrong...It's that simple. I draw my own conclusion to any news...I don't need a TV to do it for me...I am almost 60 years old so I completely understand bias and Fox does not represent that to me nor my family who also happen to watch Fox news.

To each his own..You go ahead and watch whatever you please, but don't label me anything for choosing something other than your conclusion...

Re: What they are doing right!
The only thing FOX is doing right is grabbing all the rich conservatives to back them, that's all. Plus with all their controversy, you have the ad companies jumping on the bandwagon to sell their products. It's all about commercialism, not what's right. And that's my point.

Thank you kind Sir!

Yes, we do agree on Hilliary and probably a whole lot of other stuff. It doesn't matter if we're Republican or Democrat, we believe right is right and wrong is wrong. That's the only point I'm trying to get over. But it seems to be hard to get that over to the young!

Nice meeting you!

Excuse me......
I got your profile mixed up with "seedling"......then we're about the same age.......first rule of political discussion....don't take things too seriously.......lighten up

None of these politicians give a damned about what we have to say anyway......

At least we agree on Hillary.

That's truly funny!
When I get a little bit older, you say? That's a joke for sure. On the contrary, I believe you will learn a hellava lot more when you get older, my young friend. It kills when young people think they know so much more than those who have been here many more years and really do know. Everything I have said is the truth. FOX is as biased as "desaib" and our country should not be listening to false prophets no matter how liberal, conservative, moderate, or whatever they consider themselves. TRUTH and HONESTY doesn't go under those names. They are what they are - truth and honesty - and you can't cloak them to fit your own reasoning.

Re: Re: Re: Re: Actually you missing a lot of the point........
That's because you agree with what they are saying.....It's a "perspective" thingy....and you fail to see your real slant.....It a common malady among those that tend to be  "liberal" in nature......Few Liberals will accept the label....they wrap themselves in the "moderate....."middle of the road" banners.  That will change as you get a bit older......

BTW....in the meantime, you're entitled to whatever opinion you choose......and the same for us....

FOX news has more listeners than CNN,MSNBC,NBC,CBS,ABC,COMBINED...so they must be doing something right...

Re: Re: Re: Actually you missing a lot of the point........

I don't know what stations you're listening to because I don't hear any partisan gobbly gook on CNN's regular news. How can you possibly say they are all the same? Do you listen to CNN? They have a lot more class to me!

How can you compare it with FOX I'll never know!

Re: Bpitter
Thank you Seedlings. It's nice to know that I'm not the only one who feels that way. I watch CNN because it's more FAIR AND BALANCED!

Re: So What?

The same place you've been kind sir. But evidently they're talking your language so you don't see anything wrong with them. Other stations are not as die-hard Republican as FOX is and that's why I named only them. The other major stations do show opposing opinions respectfully.

When you're as much into one view as you are, sometimes you can't see for looking! To me, it depends on the news event or topic because I could feel anyway about it. I'm not stuck on stupid and can see only one way. So I think YOU need to wake me and see reality. Red is not the only color in this country!

So What?
I had to laugh when someone suggested that you check out the BBC or a Spanish network to find out what is going on in the U.S.. Just yesterday, you had NBC vote for the airing of the 'thanks to the troops' ad only after they were against it. I guess John Kerry now owns NBC. However, you see only FOX as being biased, wake up, where have you been?

Bpitter
You are absolutely correct. FOX is Repulican run...basically the prez.  If you want to 'really' know what's happening in the U.S. check out the BBC or the Spanish speaking stations for they have no reasons nor desire to change the color of things, they tell it like it is.

Re: Actually you missing a lot of the point........
Once again, Corbin, I don't consider news to be left, right, or indifferent. Let the news be the news without opinions is all I'm asking. I don't want to hear either side's comments on the news, just tell the news as it happened and go home and give your comments to your wife, family and friends. That's all!

Re: Fair and Balanced?
I don't consider myself liberal, conservative or twisted. I just would like to hear unbiased news for a change, just the way it originally happened and let me have my own opinion, and not yours or theirs. Is that asking too much?

posted by b2008 on December 9, 2007 at 7:29 AM | link to this | reply

Left, Right, Middle, what does it matter?

Why is it necessary to always categorize the news. The news used to be just that, news, without opinions connected to it. All the commentators want to add their opinions and everyone doesn't agree with someone else's opinion unless you give an opposing opinion for clarity. What I'm saying is FOX doesn't give opposing opinions respectfully. I don't care jack about left, right, or sidewise, I only care about what you are saying. And if I feel the opposite of what you are saying, I should hear that view on your show also. That, to me, shows a "fair and balanced" presentation. It gives people something to think about and to weigh in their own minds. I don't expect you to tell me how you feel without hearing how I feel. That's what makes a conversation.

And, once we have opposing views, we have the choice to choose one way or the other, knowing the good and the bad of both sides. That's how people make intelligent decisions one way or the other. But when you're flooded with only one side and never allow the other side to respectfully give their opinions without being rudely interrupted or overtalked or said to be wrong because they are not in agreement with you, that, to me, is a one-sided conversation and opinion. Everyone should have their fair share if you're giving opinions. Otherwise, news should be strictly news, without opinions.

So for all of you guys who are leftwing, rightwing, or whatever, none of that matters if we're not distributing our views equally so others can have a choice to know both sides. All I'm saying is it's hard to know both sides on FOX because they don't allow that to happen equally.

Fair and Balanced?
Have you ever watched NBC, CBS, ABC, CNN or MSNBC? I think FOX does an excellent job of fair and balanced compared to the above mentioned left wing saturated news companies. The old 3, NBC, CBS & ABC have been liberal forever. Even if FOX is conservative so what? You have many more liberal twisted choices to choose from right?

I agree with Corbin...in fact I can't and won't listen to any other news as the liberal bias is so blatant in their news...In fact those channels drive the news rather than report it..

Actually you missing a lot of the point........
When compared to the left leanings of all other major news outlets....Foxes more middle oy the road positions appear right oriented because they are more to the right than all the rest.......thet are a balance to all of the Left news outlets.
