Comments on An issue of eyebrows

I loved this post!

I have struggled with my eyebrows for so long I think i might need a support group for this problem; see my eyebrows start thick and bushy but half way they vanish as the hairs tend to spread up towards my hairline leaving me with little substance towards the end.

I envy those who are not in need of pencils to define their brows. I do agree that a little tweezing can do wonders for your eyes because your eyes look more luminous, but here in the Arab World mass media has introduced the thin penciled look and made it de rigueur, only they don't use pencils but have them tattooed. I've been tempted on more than one occasion, it would be nice to have a dip in the sea without worrying about how you look minus your semi-eyebrows, and yes that chicken pox scar is hard to cover with any kind of cosmetic, but lets face it: i love the dilemma of searching for the perfect eyebrow pencil and yes i do get pleasure from all the hits and misses while trying to draw the perfect arch. Tatoos! eyebrows were meant as statements of opinions and mood, why get stuck with one expression???

As others have commented they go natural, so do i, but i sometimes wonder
if other women think i am just to lazy to do all the plucking, painting, and i am blessed i dont have alot of hair so i dont have to shave often, i do not do alot to improve on what i have, not because i dont have the time , i have other things i would rather do with my time and i am happy with the way i am.

thepoetBubbaGirl..
Let's hear it for the natural look.  By the way I just saw that you and I share a birthday December 8.  Only, I am three decades older than you!  Cheers and thanks for your comments.

I tend to agree with you..

Though, I always try to get the 3 or 4 unibrow hairs...  as well as strays which seem to be set off from the eyebrows entirely. I am do pluck my eyebrows once every four months or so, but I do it more to define the natural shape they have, than to distort it. Plucked or not, my eyebrows never look plucked. I almost never wear make-up, and when I do I usually stick with eye-liner.

And most men I've met commend me for going with the natural look. Women... well, I don't think they understand it...

if you asked a beautician to teach you, I am sure you can do it.

I think a lot of it is about having what we don't, and trying to enhance what we do have.  And, at the botoom of it all, what fashion is saying is the 'in' thing now.

thanks.  Oh yes, I enjoy the action of eyebrows and miss it in the fine pencil lines that women seem to opt for.  Also, if women have botox or other procedures, their facial muscles get frozen and you miss the expressions as well.

Greenrfields, fascinating post
I am one of those older women whose brows have gone wild with age, like wire bristles on a scrub brush.  I fight them with tweezers but it is tedious.  This threading thing has caught my attention.  Can I learn to do it to myself?

I, too, had observed that some women and even teenage girls do pluck their eyebrows... either to make it 'thin' or to make it look 'straight'... whatever the purpose?

Excellent topic Green
I notice eyebrows. Much depends on how people use them too. If they lift them while speaking they seem more attentive
