TAPS - as long as every American wants a stick built house we'll keep
bulldoziering the land to build them on...and fighting wars to get us the gas to drive to work to pay for them. I have lived long enough to see the passing of an era and a bunch of cinder block and vinyl siding doesn't seem like much to show for it

teddypoet - yeah, its pretty cool to think about what has happened right
under our feet

Oh my goodness, FreeManWalking
I can see it all--Tennessee.  My great-grandfather and six of his brothers from Dollar, (pronounced Dough - ler) now the area of the Natchez Trace State Park, fighting, some dying, some mustered out wounded, not much to go home to afterward.  The torture of the land continues.  The fight for land reclaimation from the kudzu, the blasting, the digging, the building, the mining.  Somehow, you got it all in your poem.

Great way to throw back the sheltering visage of Life
and expose its Truths to the explorer of what really is...total enjoyment of the ride, my friend!

Foliagegold - history is odd like that - you can take a trip and never
leave the spot your standing in

Oh my!  I feel like I've just read 150 years of history through the eyes of one man.  Well done!

Trisha - thanks. I like movement in my writing...otherwise I get bogged in
something too cerebral
