Some people feel it's impossible that those kinds of places still exist, but I'm proud to say I live in one!  One gas station, one grocery store with the aisles named after local streets (mine carries ketchup and the like, LOL), an elementary school, some churches, and lots of friendly people!

Somehow, I knew that you'd come to see your hometown in this way again. I think your inner self needed to purge itself of what had tainted it. I wish you well on your recovery of your feeling of innocence and love. God bless and thank you for leaving such a wonderful comment.

We had such an address once in Belgium : when you mailed an evelope with "Tin Tin, Brussels" from anywhere in the world, it would always arrive. Tin Tin was a world famous comic strip.
Speaking of home, we are going to leave home soon, to go to another home in Africa.

Oh this post just warmed my heart so! I live in a small town not that small but you brought up a point I thought was great about mail. A few years my beautiful little step granddaughter wrote me a note. She just put my first name and the town and it came to me. I have kept it all these years. That is a place to live. Don't tell people about this wonderland they come from everywhere to be part of it. Thanks for making my day nice.

I don't know where you are at but it sounds like my little town. Like you I have come to realize (after many years) that this really is home. It's a great feeling isn't it!

Oh and we still have a milk man and you can leave his money payment in the milk box...it's safe!

Hi Julia....this is great news. I know you were homesick for California....

Spring is my favorite time of year. My flowers are beginning to bloom, my grass is turning green and all my trees are beginning to leaf. Too bad we'll probably get hit with another couple of snowstorms before May, when it truly is Springtime in the Rockies. You live in a beautiful place too, I'm glad you are beginning to feel it's beauty and feel at home again!

Good for you Julia!
I have never really had a place that felt like home to me.  I hope to find that someday.

What a lovely and gentle piece.  Yes, I know places like that.  I grew up on the outskirts of a town --population 1,200-- and so loved it.  When I went back 5 or 6 years ago, the town had bloomed into 24,000 people.  I was absolutely amazed.  How fortunate you are that your town is still YOUR town.  Lovely work!  Good to, 'meet' you!  --Joy!Mary

It's sounds like a beautiful place to be.
It's a stupid cliche, but true -- no matter where you go, there you are. And no matter where I've been, I've always wound up with some part of me still here, in my little home town, where I now live full time.

Julia,
I am so happy for you!  I grew up in a small town at the base of Mt. Rainier.  It was right out of a Norman Rockwell painting.  Then we moved to another small town in a farming valley named after an enormous rock jetting out of the hillside covered in moss!  It was priceless growing up in a small town.  I also raised my boys in a small town on a culdesac.  It was an ideal neighborhood community.  I haven't put my Welcome Home sign out for over a decade now but have found a house I'm trying to buy.  Hopefully I'll be 'home' again very soon.  This was a heart warming post.  Thank you for sharing your love with us.
