If your lovely son grows up and becomes a doctor
...and the little white boy gets into an accident, it will probably only be at that point that his mother will realise that colour shouldn't really matter, it is who you are that really counts

RE: TAPS

YOU ARE RIGHT. MY SON GOT ADMITTED ON TUESDAY FOR HIS THIRD COURSE OF CHEMO. HE CAME HOME ON TODAY. WE DIDN'T SEE NAMELESS THIS TIME AROUND SO HIS LITTLE BROTHER MUST BE DOING BETTER. I LOOK FOR HIM SO I COULD SNEAK AND GIVE HIM A HUG. IT STILL PAINS ME TO THINK OF NAMELESS TOBE IN A HOUSE HOLD THAT TEACH THAT MESS. WHY COULDN'T SHE TEACH HIM TO JUST LOVE. IN THIS DAY IN AGE THAT IS WHAT WE NEED.

                                 PEACE AND LOVE.

Definitely racial prejudice is a learned thing.  Learning it is detrimental to personal growth no matter what race one happens to be.

I believe this.......kids will ask this.........
when my little son was three or four, he asked me what color is he, because some kid in day care asked him......I told him to pick a color, so he picked orange, we are not black, nor white, nor brown, but orange........isn't it cool.....because orange can have any color friends......

Next time you see Nameless, give him a hug!

Racism is a form of self-hate.

Throughout the world, and particularly in the USA, people are far more mixed than they admit. In my own case, there are fairly close ancestors, a great-grandmother and her father, with mulatto-ish or Spanish features in their photographs, for whom the genealogy past a further three generations back is unknown, the British having burned down the church with the records during the Revolutionary War.  It was precisely in that pre-Revolutionary period here in America when there was  substantial cross-breeding among immigrants from both Northern and Southern Europe, the Caribbean and other parts of the world, as well as with the early Oriental immigrants we had mistakenly called "Indians".  There are few if any people here who can show racial purity through ten generations of Americans; talk of "jumping the fence" abounds.

Carl Peter

PS:  My grandmother had a framed photograph of my great-grandmother as a girl that was part of a silver grooming kit, the covering glass for which my younger daughter broke and which was set aside to get a new glass and, with the intervening years and the confusion of the divorce, I have not been able to find.  Another copy of that photograph is in an old album which my nephew borrowed for a school project.  Once I get either copy, I will scan and post it, probably on myspace with a link to it on blogit.

FOLIAGEGOLD FOR YOU

YES AN AGE-OLD CHALLENGE. DO YOU KNOW NAMELESS DON'T COME AND VISIT ANYMORE, I SAW HIM AGAIN A FEW DAYS AGO AND HE DROP HIS LITTLE HEAD. I WISH I COULD JUST HOLD HIM A GIVE HIM THE HUG I FEEL HE NEEDS. THIS STORY IS REAL. I HEARD OF STORY OF PEOPLE THAT DEALT WITH RACISM. HOWEVER, I NEVER HAD TO TO DEAL WITH IT. THIS DON'T CHANGE WHO I AM AS A PERSON. BUT IT DID MAKE ME PRAY FOR HER. IN THIS DAY IN AGE I THOUGHT RACISM DIDN'T MATTER ANYMORE.IT'S SO MORE TO LIFE THAN BEING RACIST. SHE HAS TO MUCH ON HER PLATE TO BE WORRYING ABOUT THE COLOR OF SOMEONE SKIN. HER CHILD HAS CANCER. THAT ALONG IS ENOUGH TO WORRY ABOUT. PEACE. THANKS FOR THE COMMENT.OH I JUST WANT TO SAY ONE MORE THING THIS CHALLENGE STARTED WAY BEFORE WE EVEN BORN. I WAS TAUGHT HOW BLACKS WERE DONE BACK THEN. BUT WHY WOULD I WORRY ABOUT SOMETHING THAT DIDN'T HAPPEN TO ME. IF DID I WOULD HAVE LOST OUT ON ALOT OF WHITE FRIENDS THAT HAS BEEN GREAT TO ME. TAKE MY JOB FOR INSTANCE. AS YOU KNOW MY SON HAS CANCER RIGHT. THEY HAVE BEEN GREAT TO ME. I STILL HAVE MY JOB. THEY TOOK UP COLLECTION FOR ME. THEY HAVE GIVING MY SON GIFTS. ALL KINDS OF THINGS THEY HAVE DONE FOR MY FAMILY. AND GUESS WHAT THEY ARE ALL WHITE. JUST A POINT.       I LOVE MY WHITE FRIENDS.

                                 PEACE AND LOVE

Hey... I grew up for much of my childhood in Brasil and even though my parents are a little racist I guess they know it is wrong because I never knew until much later. I never knew the difference between black and white until I was about 13 or so and moved back to Texas from Brasil. It horrified me once a realized what was going on I thank God for my parents who had the wisdom not to pass that on to me.

It's ridiculous that racism continues in this day and age.
I've dated a couple of black guys, and I would get so much crap from some people.  I was like...come on now.  It's very sad that someone would prevent two children from being friends just because of race.  I probably would have said something to that boy's mother.

posted by Jadelynn on March 11, 2007 at 8:22 PM | link to this | reply

racism
children don't know the difference they all look the same to them. I went thru this with my daughter as she went to a primarily Hispanic school but didn't know it, and now all her friends are Hispanic.  Here on Blogit we dont know the races of many, does that make a difference?

How sad...This is the kind of story that reminds me that as a whole, we as humans have a lonnnng way to go before we get beyond issues of race.

Good people are those, like pioneers blazing trails toward returning to looking at the world through the eyes of innocence.  We will make it there one day, but we take small steps...remember you are a part of making global love real...
