Thankfully I've never been there for a whole year, but I've been there. My left ear is permanently damaged (though I can hear) and I've had problems with it my whole life, so I can relate.

2005 was a crazy year forme, so I don't remember a thing, I had horrible
ear pain, so it was miserable, I didn't hear a thing.....
