I say go with what makes you happiest
you might have the chance to have a job that pays megabucks, but how long could you hold it till you go nuts? There's nothing like doing a job you like - a very big luxury these days.

I've read about research that suggests that above a certain income level, increases in pay do not bring added happiness. So I would go with the job I would enjoy most.

Well, Wild Bill, I'll tell ya....
I started at my hometown paper about eight years ago for a little less than that. No, a good bit less than that. After a couple of years, I went to a bigger paper, a daily, won a bunch of awards and am still winning them, and moved back to my hometown paper. They gave me a pretty cool job and fairly decent pay. And I love being here. It's absolutely, positively worth being five minutes away from home for lunch, it's great to work for a company that will grant bereavement leave when you have to put your dog down, and it's awesome to be able to wander around in the county looking for cool stuff to write about.

All newspapers are low paying, particularly entry level print journalism, but it does get better, it opens up a lot of doors, and it's one of the few jobs in the world where you get paid to ask extremely impertinent questions of self important people.

I'd say go for it. You'll probably have a blast.

Go with what you enjoy
...because remember your job becomes your life. How do you want to live it?

Hey, where there's a will there's a way!  I wish you the absolute best regardless of what you decide!

I agree with Presley!
They say money doesn't buy everything, but we all know it can really be the pits without it! Still, do what makes your heart sing! Who would want to make more money if they go to work each day with a rock in their gut? Believe me when I say it is NOT worth it! Live, laugh, love and do what you love and enjoy! Good luck in you decision because I'm sure you'll make the one that's right for you!

Great advice Presley. I'm literally cutting my salary in half so the
adjusments are monumental.

I had to make this decision many years ago.  I chose to take a temporary cut in income in order to enter in a field I knew I would enjoy.  The cut was painful, to say the least, but after a few years my income improved and it will only get better in terms of advancement.  It was worth the adjustments we had to make!  Go for what makes you happy!
