Joe
He is 17 and legal charges are pending so it could still happen. I doubt it, but it could.

Wifey . . , geez
You hear of teachers getting accosted and stuff by students, but referees?? That's a new one to me.
It's a shame that they won't throw this little punk in jail for a few months. They just don't do that to kids.

I know what you are talking about they call it a detachment disorder, I am not sure this is the real problem but more of a problem with being taught how to treat other people.

A very unfortunate occurrence. Buck is a great man, but he too must realize that valuing himself is important. A lot of kids these days have grown up without the benefit of being guided kindly into problem resolution.

i'm guessing buck is finding his way to forgiveness, regardless of his
opinion on what happened. as far as the child goes, scary, cold, and disconnected. i'm trying to think of the scientific term for someone who doesn't feel pain or remorse for their actions but it's not coming to me. anyway, scary stuff.

bel--
sorry for your friend Buck, hope he gets better quickly. As for the young man, they need to get him into counseling and anger management classes, imo.

I am so sorry. People don't care about others anymore. That is a lot of people. You are always finding some good person to write about in here. I believe you are a good person to be able to find all these other good ones. I am so sorry this happened. Bless you.

I'm behind and haven't been up to reading..
Just wanted to check in... I resent the email. Did you get it? I have been sleeping or in bed forever... pneumonia and tonsillitis. Blech. Hopefully I'm better soon. It's going on two months now. Hope your good, too... I'll get to read soon too, I hope.

Bel...
At risk of sound like an old codger, there is a general lack of a sense of consequences for one's actions. You hear of kids doing things like that and you have to know they never once considered what might happen to them. And now to sound really old, too much "spoil the child, spare the rod" mentality.

I completely agree. I commented to him that it's hard to expect kids to behave like civilized human beings when the parents are having fist fights in the stands. Who sets the example?

I'm sorry Bel, but.....
perhaps if someone had set this kid straight a long time ago...this would never have happened.......
