The worst segment of a particular group, whether it's based on gender, race, religion, etc. often become the standard bearers for the entire group. Every dog doesn't bite. Not every snake is poisonous. Well, maybe those were awful analogies, but you get my drift. There are good ones out there. The bad ones get all the attention.
