TAPS- America has an inordinate number of people in prison
Our country was founded on rebellion...perhaps this echoes into the present accounting for so many "law-breakers".  A collegue of mine son was involved in a robbery that ended up taking the lives of 2 people.  He did not do the shooting, nonetheless, he will be in the prison system indefinitely, life sentence w/o the possibility of parole.  Some mistakes are very very costly, esp. when incurred in our youth.

Because of your link to prisons, I'm afraid that my interests were led there.  Prisons interest me and horrify me all at the same time.   My grandson's stepbrother is encarcerated for felony murder.  When he was only 16 he and three other minors committed a felony and in the police chase that resulted they went the wrong way on the freeway and crashed head-on killing two people.  Tried as adults, they are spending their youth and early adult hood with hardened criminals in maximum security facilities.   I wonder what on earth they will be like when they finally are released.
