Lady Chardonay, I have not yet seen that one... Lots of Mrs Claus,
however, getting a jump on the old man...

Ciel, I would rather have a homemade gift any day. I guess that makes me childish? Good to see you here.

Still, David, the more that more of us become uncomfortable with this
particular interpretation of Christmas, the sooner its deeper meanings and truer expression can make a comeback.
Of course, we could just see this current frenzy as the latest comeback of the wild mad days of Saturnalia...

That's pretty much it, Ciel!
Big business hits us with the "you gotta give" idea knowing full well that most people will go out and do just that. Tugging at our hearts and wallets.
I guess they who spend the most must love the most, according to Madison Avenue. Buying are way into love. Sort of like buying "indulgences" gets us into heaven. Many will fall for it, but will never quite get it!

I keep hoping, David1Spirit,
that this tide will turn, but it is fueled both by greed and by the great love people have of giving grandly. Hard to believe this is a phenomenon of the 20th century, and not even all of it... Hardly should qualify as a tradition!

I've pretty much had it with the whole Christmas comercial thing!
Especially the ones that tell us to "...show her how much you really love her; by buy her a diamond this year!"
Uh, my love is good and strong and never waving; and a whole lot more cost efficient, thank you......LOL!

Which lesson, Joe Love?
That the family holidays of December should all be about Christmas and Christians? Or that we live in a bigger world than that, in which the long nights of the year have always been times of celebration in many cultures, and still are?

Actually, I noticed that this year Walmart is now saying "Merry Christmas" again. Hopefully, retailers have learned their lesson last year.

Hi, Offbeats! Good to touch base with you again!
Every flower and garden I saw in my travels had a bit of your fairy-dust in it! I have not yet gotten up a new calendar of flowers over at cafepress, but there is one there now I think you will like--- if you love little furry kittens! Or canyons...
