That's fair, Lady...
Please forgive my misunderstanding.

That's silly, Lady, with all due respect...

Although you clearly believe that more guns equates to more deaths, in fact, just the opposite seems to be true. Everywhere that citizens have free access to guns, literally everywhere, the deal rate from guns drops, as does the general crime rate.

Think of it like this. If you were a burglar, and broke into people's homes to take things of value, would you be more likely to enter homes where the people are armed, or homes where you know arms are forbidden by law? If you were a mugger, would you be more likely to mug an armed person, or an unarmed person?

In this sense the answer is obvious. But, Lady, in the real world that both you and I live in, we are all safer and more secure when the citizens around us are armed. This is NOT my opinion, but hard, cold fact, gleaned from all across America. I respect your desire not to have a gun in your home, but, for your own safety, please consider carefully before you choose to limit the right of your neighbors to have guns in their homes.

I take your point, Solo...

But I have yet to see an inherently "dangerous" gun. From time to time I have seen damaged guns that could possibly shatter upon firing, but these are guns with mechanical defects.

I admit to seeing lots of people who might use guns dangerously, but this appears to be a "people problem" rather than a "gun problem."

Well,
I suppose a person who is concerned about the dangers of guns could hang their rifle handsomely above the living room fire place unloaded.  That way, any friends who stop in will be under the impression that that family is armed and ready to shoot.
