thank you for reading
part of the point is the amount of acceptance -- in these very same opinion polls, acceptance was not so great in the past (sic).

and yes, janesopinion, it seems we can come together.

I wonder what a poll in Mississippi would produce?

In ratio, I see.

It depends on the sample size and the randomness.  3 % is an accepted standard but it can be less.

Isn't there a 3% margin of error in all statistics?

I have a gay brother, in Ireland, in a very stereotypical hetero Irish male household (Dad and other brother).

I believe he should have the right to a partnership (a formal ceremony pledging commitment), though I think of  marriage as being between opposite sexes, which is something I've tried to figure out but can't really help regressing.

A step further, as to whether he should legally adopt, he says himself that he feels that children have enough difficulty trying to 'fit in' in the world without having the stigma of gay parenthood.  These are his feelings not mine.  I believe anyone that can provide love, a good home, good universally-agreed, common-sensical principles to a child should be entitled to be a parent.

My brother also says, that if he'd had a choice in being gay, he wouldn't have chosen it.  This is from an intelligent, artistic guy in a happy committed relationship.

Janes.....
58% to 36% in a Presidental election would be considered an overwhelming victory and mandate for the winner......why is this not an overwhelmng mandate for those who believe in traditional marriage?

Corbin, he was just trying to set me straight on the subject.

That was his point.

And he has.  Thanks, Xenox, for gathering those poll results.  I found them very interesting.  I took the "vast majority" from the Georgia results where 76% of folks were against marriage.  But of course that was Georgia AND it referred to marriage -- not just a civil union.

And here you thought I was unreasonable.  Yeah, fess up Bro.

Duh???

I have no problem with a  legal "Partnership"...but not a marriage......I have no problem with them being  protected.......but not a marriage.......

So...what's your point?
