8-Ball: My fingers were dry and I had a lose piece of skin...

But could I leave it alone?  No.  Of course not.  So I pulled at it...ouch...it is hurting again just talking about it.

But the more I pulled, the deeper the hangnail dug, cutting a troth sized gash in my thumb.  I finally stopped after it reached the knuckle and wrapped my whole finger in a paper towl.

Kat My point exactly
everything (sad to say) has to be taken seriously now adays. It's a scary time right now for diseases. Sure not like in the 40's but viruses are getting stronger and we are not prepared.

8-Ball: I had something to say, but Symphony just freaked me out...

Give Daddy a second to recover...

Ok, I'm fine now.  I never had anything that serious before.  I had a hangnail once.  Does that count?

SYMPHONY
That is so sad to hear.I am soory for your loss. This is the school's sixth case, second this year. I hope they do something more this time than just handing out pills to the bus and her class. Because really when you play at recess it's with the whole school then.

Well, hopefully someone disinfects and cleans those sinks regularly.
It is scary these days bec so few people observe 'common sense' habits of cleanliness. It's no wonder the CDC is so worried about the spread of bird flu.

8-ball, we have to distinguish between real and unreal fears. I think the
health scare at school is just precautionary.

Hi 8 ball, your day sounded like it needed to end with a good drink!

But seriously, there are 2 main types of meningitis, viral and bacterial.  Viral is the least problematic.  But it can still be very dangerous, sometimes resulting in death.

You cant be immunized against bacterial, which is the most virulent strain.  It is usually quick onset, with severe symptoms, and has a high mortality rate.

In NZ, all of our children  ( up to ages18) are currently being immunized for viral meningitis, because we have had a large increase in the numbers of affected people.

It is often spread more quickly by poor living condition, in damp homes, with over populated numbers of people in the home.

Sharing drinking vessels or food is one of the easiest ways to pass it on.  Never let your kids share a drink bottle or share food with others!

Hopefully you will remain meningitis free, and enjoy your busy days  :)
