Am I missing something here?
Having grown up during the Civil Rights Battles of the 60's I can understand and sympathize with the whole black/white racial issues. This country has come a very long way since those days.
But ILLEGAL ALIENS ARE NOT AMERICAN CITIZENS.
That the Majority of the illegals currently in this country are of mexican origin doesn't mean squat. It doesn't matter where they come from, Thailand, Turkey, Russia or China... if they are illegal they go home. Our law enforcement agencies deal with them by the hundreds and thousands every day. When encountered lock them up, put them on a bus and send them back in chains if necessary.
As a FACT every day I work, I deal with illegals who drive cars and trucks, have accidents and guess what, not only do they not have licenses they don't have insurance either. Just who ends up paying for that little breaksthe law? Every day ambulances transport or EMS crews treat illegals who have no insurance and guess who gets to pay for those costs? The illegals don't pay the taxs a Citizen pays, and I can't begin to count the number of times I have stood in line at the grocery store and watched them lay out WIC coupons and Food Stamps and then use cash to buy a case or two of beer. Illegals are "below" the law and so crimes by them and against them are seldom reported. And the true Felony crimes - I won't even go there.
As for them doing jobs that Citizens will not do, well the answer to that is pay the workers true wages and tell the people sitting on welfare - guess what we found you a job! (By the way picking veggies is hard work, I know, I've done it).
I AM NOT anti-immigration, we have the INS for a reason. Enforce the laws on the books. Close the border to illegals and invite them to get Green Cards and Workers Visa's, that is why we have them. Let them come through the border control points like they should. By the way a little aside - if I were to Enter Mexico illegally they would put me in PRISON.
