They're only unusual for Anglos, M.P.O. Of course, having a name
such as Igor in America could be a bit of a problem. I currently work with a few Bulgarians with names such as Stoyo, Doncho, Slavyana, and Minka. I'm sure quite a few Americans have said a few things about those names behind their hands. Sad, petty, but true.

Yeah, we're Russian, so ...
we all have unusual names.
Still, Igor got the short end of the stick (my other brother's name is Pavel and mine is Ekaterina) ... perhaps that explains his later mental problems.

What's funny, food4thought, is that I originally placed Moon Unit in my
post and replaced it with Harriet. LOL. Good ole Frank.

Igor? Really? Interesting. Traditional family name? I still have a
problem with Mortimer. Igor doesn't bother me, despite the almost automatic silly Anglo attachment to Frankenstein.

I actually don't thing Mortimer (which would be Mort for short) sounds all that bad.
Of course, I have a brother named "Igor", so ... I might be desensitized.
