The states want the laws enforced as is as they are suffering due to
education and housing and welfare costs.
BUT Bush doesn't want to do anything to hurt his big business buddies (agribusiness especially) so I think this one'll wither on the vine and each side will blame the other for nothing being done
BUT I don't think either party really wants to piss off the Hispanic voter before this election.

The bill passed by the Senate Committee is terrible.....
From a political point of view.........Let's say all 11 million illegal aliens become US citizens.......
Which party do you think they're going to vote for? Even if they split 60/40 for the Democrats -- and given that they're mostly poor, uneducated people, from mostly socialist countries, who don't respect our laws, those are probably extremely generous numbers for the GOP -- this will add more than 2 million potential votes for the Democrats.

It's long over due...we needed to enforce our borders and the immigration laws a long time ago..No reason to have laws if we don't enforce them eh?

and unfortunately, some in the Republican Party would prefer to Deport Them Immediately.
