Jo--- Nicely said in a succinct manner. I wrote about the same thing
in narrative fashion recently in my Opinion blog, Tearing the Seam of Reality. Thanks for commenting on mine. Otherwise, I might not have found yours.

DrJPT

I try to stay focused on my objective and not on myself or others.

So if at an important meeting keep my focus on the topic being tabled rather than myself or the people involved.

It is a balancing act though I think,

I've learned that most people are not smarter than me.
Even if they act like it.

I Feel When We Compare Ourselves With Others That May Lead to It
I always avoided doing that and attempted to be a trendsetter.  Some may consider that arrogance, yet I feel/felt it better to operate in that manner.  I grew up and learned early that most people who spent too much time focusing on others seemed to be very self conscious.  Nice post!!

As I get older, I'm less selfconscience...I guess you get to the point
where you don't care too much what others think about you. LOL
