Are You Selfconscious?

The reading at Todays Gift seems to be saying that self consciousness is a reverse style of snobbery. If we take the focus off ourselves and place it on the 'other' our self consciousness will slip away. Does that sound right? R U Selfconscious? I used to be absolutely.
