Kingmi...
I agree... it is a cult in every sense of the word. This coming from a person who is totally INdependent.

Hi Kingme,
It isn't easy to admit; "I am an alcoholic/drug addict etc", I admire these people, who are honest and brave enough to do it. I come from a typical, quiet family - my parents don't like strong alcohol. Neither do I. The same conerns drugs. I suppose I am quite strong and that's why when I feel a bit depressed I never think about drinking vodka or taking sth stronger to feel relaxed and better.
When I'm stressed, I sleep longer, I try to be more creative or I take up sports, meet friends.

Kingmi,
It is an incredibly complex issue, but you are right. Few involved in such a situation ever seem to quite understand. Unfortunately, denial and psychological game-playing are not limited only to substance abuse situations. They are parts of any dysfunctional human interaction. Dependencies of a million kinds are rampant among mankind.
