Azur - Two types: they talk about people or they talk about everything else
Some years back I realized I don't enjoy talking at length ONLY about people, pets, illness, etc. Many fall into that category. My mother for one. We talk frequently but its based on love no content. - I like the other flavor of peep - talk science, politics, travel, society, values, legislation, anything other than just stories about the people in their lives. Their repetoire is too limited to stay entertaining for a sustained period.

You know what they say...

"You can never go home again."

Growing up sucks!  :-)

Those parties are mainly for gossip or some ulterior purpose in mind.

jojostar, they need to forget catching up and just have fun
maybe it will happen when we are old ladies. It is not that any of them are not nice

I agree with you. It's nice to have the memories but if the time comes that your only commonalites are your memories then in it's time to move on.

OffBeats,
thanks for the comments. These woman all have lives it just that our lives diverge so we might as well just let them rather than all this effort

Your right about taking too much time to catch up on the small stuff before you can talk about anything else! It doesn't make sense. When our group gets together it's the same as you described. I can't say as I blame you for not going. One lady in our group keeps telling us the same things (for the last 15 years). I finally realized this woman does not have a life. I also wonder how many want to know your business because they don't have anything else to do! Maybe you should just let the visits be less frequent. Twice a year is more frequent than ours. Either way, hope your in for a good day!
