Hemlocker, it is convenient for people to have someone to blame too
so they'll often grab the nearest person and blame them.

Thanks for the compliment. It's my first time to be called that.

Extremely perspicacious observations, as yours always seem to be.  A similar dynamic operates here.  No one is as concerned about others as with what the opinions and observations are about him (or her).  Some people are here because they enjoy the rough and tumble of debate, and they are willing to make occasional concessions.  Others want simply to "stand up" for  their beliefs against any and all detractors, as if they were defending a holy city from the incursions of  barbarians.  These people are so convinced of their right-ness, that it is futile to engage them in any subject that is controversial.  I've almost learned that lesson.  Thanks.

Well said.
Most of the time it's an automatic response from these people. They are parasites, never originating anything but always reacting negatively because that's what they always do.

MayB, you're absolutely right...
Most people are so self-involved they haven't a clue about who you are, really. It's not that you haven't told them; it's that they weren't listening. Maybe you thought they were listening to what you said, but in fact they were just listening for you to take a breath so they could turn the conversation back to themselves. This is not a complaint, it's simply an observation. :)pat
