By all means, entertain them.  I'm going to do what you do, but I'm fortunate not to have party hearty neighbors.  I go to sleep new year's eve and wake up new years morning just as any other day.  Sometimes, if I can stay awake, I like to see the ball fall in Times Square on TV, and watch all the pathetic revelers packed together like sardines in a can--or do I secretly wish I could be there?  Nah.

Passionflower. Yes 6am music sounds good. My other neighbor
is planning to get some repetitive machinery going.  None of us minds them partying but these folk never give the courtesy of a warning or an invitation. Whenever I have a party I forewarn the neighbors AND  I invite them to pop in.  They usually didn't but they knew they could pop in.  I guess it would help if their karoake wasn't so bad - bad songs in poor voice fueled by alcohol

Hey, you've got a right to play your music at 6 a.m.
On New Years Day...Go for it!!! lollolol.....(please don't go to sleep early!)

Greetings, MayB...I like this blog and it's all quite obvious....
You're right. On New Year's there are too many expectations floating around our heads. It's just another day. The good news....it's the start of a whole new year. And to me, looking ahead, is the most important.  I wish us all excellent health, happiness, and peace..

Ms N Dependence, I was just over at yours reading about it.
My domestic life is relatively uncomplicated - probably a good thing

Ahh...
I wish I could doze ... right now sleep is elusive for me day or night.
