It never fails to amaze me how people seem to think that us creative types will work for peanuts, and kiss their feet for it! Sigh.

This is the first time I've visited your blog. I read a few so that I could familiarize myself with you a little. Seems to me that if you have broken the selling-articles-ice, so to speak, and have a "resume" of sold articles (which just isn;t easy to come by, so congrats!) that you should be able to find a better "gig". Take their pittance and kiss 'em off.

I've worked for next to nothing before, and I've regretted it. Now, I turn it down and I keep my dignity, and I don't get angry.

Did you tell them that you can't afford to be paid below the rate that was agreed and that you were already offering them good value?
At worst take the pennies from them annd run away from them forever. Who needs clients like that? Better to put your energy into finding ethical people.

Wow...that's low!
I'm guessing this is a paper/magazine specific writing job? They pay by the hour and not by the article? How many hours/week? Anything monetary extras on top of that wage?
