Sorry, Whacky, but you can't put me in the shedule - I take the beer bottles back to the Beer Store and get cash for them.

Whacky46-I like the way you put a humorous twist on a more serious subject!

Hi Whacky
You've hit on something there - that woman probably drinks so much that she's too embarressed to even put the bottles out for the garbzage men. (What if the neighbours saw?) As for critising over the guy taking a paper bag, that's plain ignorant - at least paper is biodegradable, plastic bags can last for centuries. With your recyclables business - We've actually got a number of homeless people who make sufficient money to feed themselves by collection waste cardboard and selling it. It's quite a good business. If your recycling centre isn't open much, maybe they need volunteers? You could do this instead of giving bottles. Maybe if there was greater awareness in the community and greater community commitment, they'd be open more often. Check out to see for cardboard and paper recycling too. (And that's your moral lecture for the day - brought to by Fionajean, who has a halo made of toilet roll inners.)

Whacky, Recycling is mandatory in my county in Maryland. We

have recycled for many years.  I wish everyone would.  It would help the environment.

Oh do...

schedule me for a pick, I'm recyclable doncha know!

Seriously, we live in a small town (5000) and there is a 24 hr. drop off station to drop off cardboard, newpapers, cans, glass,  plastic milk jugs, car batteries, anti-freeze and used motor oil.  Mostly I do it to save garbage costs.  I also use a trash compactor and very rarely do I have more than one 30 gal can.  I am not under any delusions I am saving the planet but I do what I can, if only for me.  By the way, you can use the paper bags over again, just take them back in with you or most stores have bins for plastic and paper bag recycling.
