Why is it so much easier just to buy a new watch than a new battery?
I've also got about 4 dead watches. "Time stands still for no man." Well, it does for this woman.

My youngest daughter has a whole bunch of dead watches too! She collects
them when they are working...and saves them ...forever.

A dead watch came alive but then it stopped ticking again. Queer how these watches have lives of their own.

You hit the nail on the head.
Wind up watches aren't too popular anymore because they last too long.  I'm wearing one with a wind-up pin, but the pin is just for decoration, since it's battery operated.

So I am not the only one
I have a ton of watches that dont work and for some oddball reason I dont through them out.  Even worse, I don't wear a watch!

Whacky

Maybe we can all get ours together and make some sort of monument to dead watches. What ya think? Pour olive oil on that acid on your arm before you find a hole you could lose a watch in. Cute post. BB

Whacky-I have a few myself that I did not get rid of. I think it is time for them to go. Thanks for the reminder.

I, too, have a watch drawer...

and some of them were pretty pricey. I just never remember to take them with me when I run errands!!

A whole drawer full of interesting watches! Congrats! Your magazine answer was it. I've awarded 3 clicks here.

Why don't you get one of those self winding watches? You know the ones that wind themselves as you walk?

Funny stuff!
I have the same drawer!  The good thing about dead watches is that they're right two times a day!

I acquired one of the little screwdrivers from somewhere, but I still usually like to let the jewelry store change the battery. It's silly really because the price is three times what a little battery costs. But right now, I've been without a watch for 3 weeks because all three that I wear, stopped at the same time and I've been too lazy to take them in.

Okay I confess to having too many dead watches about
my house myself. And I would not mind paying someone to replace the batteries, but I just never manage to get around to it...

These dead can be saved with just a change of batteries. You're featured today in Caricatures. :)

Ya know, Whacky,
Sometimes, it really is just best to pay someone to do such tasks! To me,  it just seems more worth spending the moolah than to frustrate myself! (Why do I still have batteries around the house that I don't know if they are still good or not?) Is that the same boneheaded theory of putting a pen back into a drawer when it no longer works? What, do we somehow think the pen fairy is gonna come during the night and re-fill the ink?

Funny as always
Two things I found very humorous with this entry, Whacky. . , when you were talking about some of your watches being "stuck" to the bottom of the drawer. THAT is funny! lol The "something is leaking onto my arm" was a riot, as well. lol

Hi.. I laughed through this whole post. I have a bunch of them too. My 11 yr. old grand-daughter keeps asking why I keep them.. I tell her someday they may put her through college. She gives me that puzzled look and goes away.  Great Post..

Some of them may be antiques and be worth something to collectors.

Loved the post, Whacky46.   I just won't mess with the things.  As soon as one stops running I toss it in the nearest trash and get another.   In fact, I have just about given up on watches since I retired from nursing and no longer have to take pulses every minute of the day.

This is a fantastic post, my friend....Cracked me up the minute I started reading!!

I have a purple battery operated watch. (Purple is my favourite colour)and the battery died well over a year ago....I have yet to replace it.

Sadly, I can't use wind up watches...My hands are too spastic to wind them up on my own and it's a real pain in the bum to ask people to do it for me.

Now, you be a good Wacky and get those watches to the jewlery store.  And mind those explosions...Hope your arm stops smoking soon!!...

dead watches
At least you get new watches. I've been wearing a dead one for almost a month now.

I don't see a problem here
I have many watches, about 30 that I have collected through the years. Mickey Mouse, Tweety, Pooh, flowers, smiley face, Steelers, Scooby, and many with jewels, my birthstone & diamonds. Most people love my watches. I think its a pretty cool collection. Just start wearing a different one each day, and get a battery for your watch of the day. Who knows, maybe one day they will be worth something.
