Why walls . . .
We should use modern technology, sensors, satellites, intelligence and rapid response teams. That is better than a wall any day.

Balderdash!
A secure border is the answer; I feel naught for the poor and oppressed of other nations who enter illegally, use our resources, rob, mutilate and kill our people and then feel we owe them more. I am damned sick of illegal immigrants and would gleefully do all I could to permanently eliminate them.

Archie...
I live near the Canadian border and have walked across it deep in the mountains. Mile after mile runs through mountainous terrain and not all of it is maintained by the visible cleared swath of trees visible at border crossings. Security would be great, but without a Berlin type wall (and that was only partly sucessful) I don't know how we can fully expect to accomplish complete security.

Secure borders are an illusion, however well policed they are.
The ultimate remedy is for developed nations to work towards making the lives of would-be illegal immigrants more tolerable in their own lands, by for example, ablishing trade barriers etc. Right now
