OBP, thing is, a lot of it is gone now, but you can't 'tear down' a live oak tree, and I remember...I grew up on these plantations around here.......and even the majesty of the Evergreens of Colorado cannot equal the beauty and serenity of moss-draped live oak, for me, anyway......Thank you, for your visit and comments......

MAMA D

It sounds pretty down there. It must be a comfort to see something that hasn't been torn down and brings good memories back to you!!

Reading your blog, I remembered Khalil Gibran's quote about marriage that
said that the oak tree and the cypress cannot grow in each other's shadow

Mamadragon
I've come to enjoy your blog more each time I've visited it. This entry is wonderful! I've driven through the area that you so eloquently described, and I don't think you could have done a better job characterizing it. For me, you have just set a backdrop for your entire blog! Great job!!

MamaD,
Isn't it cool how just looking at an area or an object can actually be romantic or provoke certain feelings? It sounds beautiful.

One of the few things
I've read that actually made me think I'd enjoy visiting the south. I'm one of those old, die hard, New England leftys from the '60's. Thanks for commenting on my post. It brought me here and I like the open, honest quality in your writing. I'm following your story...

Mama D,
I'll go for that ride with you.  Pick me up in the 88. (That is a ragtop, isn't it?)  I'll bring a couple of sixpacks.  When we go through little towns we can throw empty cans at any who jeer.   JJ

Trips down memory lane
That is the one good thing about the years we've put behind us. We have more memories.
