Some People
are destined to be separate from other people, for one reason or another. I admire those; they are often the free-thinkers and the protectors.

Our only security . . .
Is that which we create within ourselves; no one else can make us secure. Seucrity is as much, maybe more so, an attitude than a physical thing.

Your post is quite thought-provoking. What if that little girl had eaten cheese puffs? Maybe she would have gone straight to hell. I think "security" is a misbegotten goal. In this world--and perhaps any other in which humans have existed, awareness of one's situation and the conditions of our society precludes security. Prey animals survive by never feeling secure. God is a God of order and structure

as we see in creation. Therfore that same order and structure should be in His body of believers, but not in many if not most traditional situations.

The question is: what is that proper order and structure? People were not created to be independant of others spiritualy.

Thought-provoking post, empty_handed_painter.

I agree with the warrior precepts, except for a greyer area around the discarded past.  The past is a great qualifier for present behavior.

Anyway, I personally adhere to Emerson's "Self-Reliance."  Like Castaneda's personal responsibility, I believe that every person must accept who and what they are, gauge their limitations, rise above them, cultivate a sense of self-worth and self-respect and hold oneself accountable for everything you have a hand in.

And learn tolerance, above all.  Elitists and judgmentalists preach from the pulpit of intolerant ignorance.

ehp

great post! i agree with you 100%, and wonder why more people dont' see how far they have been led away from the message by the religiosity and doctrine and laws built around it. How much the extremists act like the Pharaisees of yesterday....and only see it in other religions not realizing others are only mirrors
