Kingmi
I am not convinced there would be worse wars without the current cause of action. This whole thing did not start with 9/11

Very well said and you are right
Can you imagine having the same President for years and years? Assasinations would definately be on the rise. I am surprised that many of these third world countries don't have more fatalities with their leaders. I believe that people should be allowed to choose their leaders, but even that can prove to be a mistake. Sometimes what you think you want is not what you really asked for at all.

I do agree with the change of leadership.
Complacency sets in when there is one party in power for too long. Autocracy tends to result.

Saul, Thank you for reading and commenting. I will respond in a blog
after I have read your review of Amy Chua.

Idealistic, kingmi,

and true to a point.  However, Amy Chua points out that exporting the capitalist/democratic ideal is causing extreme instablility throughout the world.  Her book World On Fire points out the many instances in history and in the present globalization push where ethnic and capitalist minorities have and are dominating many nations and regions at the expense of the areas' majority ethnic groups.  I reviewed it in Ban This Book!  It is definitely an eye-opener.

And I agree that democracies, especially socialist democracies, are the better forms of government.  But government forced upon and installed by an exterior agent (not to mention one as hated among Muslim countries as the United States and the West) is a seed sure to yield contaminated fruit.

billycargo,Thank you.
Hey at least they will have the wealth distributed so they can establish some market rules.  they won't wind up like SA with all the wealth in the hands of one or two families.

if only there were more of it... freedom in the world is a mighty aim but the attempts to attain that come at huge cost. The risk is that there will more and worse wars

Indeed changing leadership is good for countries.

Kingmi I wish them all the best. Currently there is nothing in the ME
for them to export except oil.  From stuff I saw in Iraq it was obvious they don't have high production standards but that could have been a result of Saddam...just like the Soviets produced a lot of junky stuff, including their space station.
