Jems, my heart DOES break every time they are released!!
Poor M has to deal with it for at least a week of me looking to see them out the back door with tears in my eyes hoping they're okay! (I always leave a familliar carrier or cage outside with a blanket and food/water for them til I can trust they're okay on their own!)

Poopy, SCREW WEBSTER!! That dictionary defines a witch as
"an evil woman with magical powers, an an ugly old woman, and an irresistibly facinating woman or girl." But yes, "mmep" is my own made up word. K, I admit it, but that's what it is!! It's like little meeps and beeps and high-pitched mumbles. Too cute. Wish you could hear her!

Rach, actually, many people ask me this! Yes, I can.

It's kinda like if you raised a bunch of dogs that looked somewhat alike, but only you can tell them apart because you know them so well and know their personalities. My "Krunchie" one of my male baby squirrels still lives in my trees and he throws acorns and sticks at me when he sees me out on my pool deck. (I think he just tries to be cool amung the other squirrels!)  Some of them do have distinct markings in which I can tell the difference, but it's mostly by their personality and attention to me when they see me.

MiaE, you would let them go because you love them enough and
cause you know they're wild animals and long to be just that. I'm not saying I don't cry like a big sap when they go, but I take comfort in knowing they're happy, they chose to go, and that they now have a chance to be what they came into this world to be....wild and free.

She's a cutie!
I dunno how you do it!  My heart would break each time I had to give one of those cuties up!

SquirrelGirl,
What is a meep? Never heard of that before---did you just make up a new word? We better call Webster right away!

Awww....
She looks so good.  She's come a long way.  I can't imagine how it feels to let them go--bitter sweet.  Do they usually stay around your house?  And, can you tell the difference between them and others once they go "out into the world"?
