I wish both sides would move on, too.  It's been 30 years, but it still pertains to the character of both men and there are still many who remember Vietnam vividly and to them it's a major issue.   There are definitely much weightier issues, but since we are currently engaged in a war in Iraq, I think the military service records are relevant. It shows the character of the man.    It's odd, that Mr. Bush's record went from "we can't find it" to "accidentally destroyed".  As the police are fond of saying, "What do you have to hide?"

I agree, ltlmac, but isn't funny that when Clinton was in the White House, all we ever heard was about his "draftdodging"  and Al Gore was criticized for having a bodyguard.  Now, we have a confirmed draftdodger who's a chickenhawk.  I think it's definitely pertinent.

Hmmm...maryx

When was it again that Kerry signed that form??  You know, the one that opens HIS military records to scrutiny as GB's are.  We know Kerry was in the military, that's for sure, he wouldn't dare let us forget that...not back then when he was speaking out against the war or now when he's decided to be a hero instead of an activist.  The question that remains unanswered in Kerry's case is "What did you do while you were in the military??"

It's a scant few who are willing to admit that both sides have issues and move on...

I'd like to see the bravery of both men to spend the rest of their time before the election talking about everything EXCEPT these military service issues.  The bravest one will be the one who can refrain from going there for the rest of his campaign...

I smell a red herring

At the very least,  no one has to get a court order and a microscope to find out if Kerry was ever in the military.  Gee, it's difficult it was tough on GW during those black-tie events campaigning in Alabama.

Kerry is a coward
He faked his medals by lying about his service and got out asap. He's still lying about them, but it's all coming out and he wrecked the military for 30 years with his brain-washed propaganda.

Kerry is in no way qualified or fit to be president of the United States of America, because he committed treason against his own country and would love nothing more than to have this nation fall under full U.N. control.

He's said so before and it's still his goal, and his voting record proves it.

If voters would develop backbone . . . .
They'd vote for some third party candidate instead of either Bush or Kerry. I'm voting Libertarian myself.

Kerry?????Bush?????

my fellow veteran, like you, I also picked up the khaki, the boots and rifle and left loved ones behind to protect those who hate us the most.

I understand your remarks about Kerry, but is Bush any better.  As of right now, I will have to toss a coin, Bush heads and Kerry tails, that is how I will vote.  WE DO NOT HAVE A REAL CANDIDATE
