Holy crap Shadow!!
Well, welcome back to the world! (Isn't that how it feels when your power is out?) I feel so isolated. Many people around here are still out, too.

No worries, katray!! I just didn't trust my own banana trees

cause I think they were diseased is all. I really never properly cared for them, I think.  Bad, bad Spitfire. Me vawy ashamed. Now they're in banana tree heaven.

Yes, we have no bananas
Uh oh Spitfire, I'm almost afraid to ask why, hehe. I am a regular Florida visitor and a friend of family, an older gentleman had two beautiful trees he invited us to pick and eat freely from. They were just right in ripeness and awesome in flavor. We made a pie with them too and words can't describe. I'm a fresh fruit nut ;) and the difference between those and imported bananas was almost unbelievable. My kids still talk about them too.

Thanks katray! I hope Ivan takes a permanent hike into the middle
of the ocean, too. Oh, but my banana trees? Well, they were cool to have, I guess, but I never really ate any bananas from them. Never trusted those buggers!!

Lol Spitfire, you paint such a great tale about your ordeal. So glad you're fine and able to do that. Banana trees you say?? Too bad they're destroyed, fresh picked bananas are a gift from heaven; not to be compared wth those grocery store imitations. Yum, it's been five years since I had one, but I can almost taste them now. Take care, don't overwork and I hope Ivan takes a dive in the Atlantic and stays there!

Damn, Mark!
So that's what that was that whacked me in the head! I knew it fell out of the sky, but I assumed it was just loose UFO parts again. I'll Fed Ex it back to ya. Don't mind the stains of blood drops. No one will notice.

If you find some brown roof shingles, please save them for me.  And my mailbox should re-enter the atmosphere any time now, so watch your head.

Thanks Whammie! Yep, all is fine but messy!

My neighborhood looks like a war zone.

around you!

That's good to hear.
Oh, I had a dream about you last night! It wasn't anything too significant, we were just talking on the phone and I was asking you what our time difference was but the storm static wouldn't let me hear you. Weird.

So glad!

Glad you survived even if your yard did not.

I called one of my dearest friends who lives in Pace this morning to see if the hurricane came that far inland.  Didn't talk to her, but her hubby told me that so far all they had gotten was lots and lots of rain, but the winds weren't as strong as on the coast.

Yes, Quirky, it sure does!
I said to M last night how much I'd hate to be Amish. I also realized I'm more of a princess than I thought.

Spitfire

Doesn't a few days without power make you realize just how much you take for granted, and just how many frickin' things in your house require electricity??

Glad you're okay.

Real world! What's that?!

Thanks Rachel! I had to find some humor in all this mess!
It's my way of life. If I can't find humor in bad times, I'd be living a miserable existance.

David1S, no doubt about it.
My neighbors across the street had their canoe all ready to go if needed. Streets are riddled with debris, but luckily, I think there were only about 3 or 4 fatalities in the entire state. Not too bad. Two of them were a couple that didn't leave their mobile home after a manditory evacuation and a tree fell on it and killed them. See what happens when we don't play by the rules?!

LOL
I shouldn't laugh...because it's not funny.  That sucks that the place is a mess.  I'm glad you're OK though.

Been watching it on TV for the last few days!

It's the flooding that has everyone worried now. Some of them streets they show look like mini rivers. And now that Ivan is on the way.............!
