Sometimes, it only takes one person to stand beside you, when the rest of the world is against you, to let you know you're okay.

I know, T-99, I got lucky with my mom...
At first, of course, she took me to a few doctors to make sure, but after all checked out, she was open-minded enough to realize what a true freak she had adopted at birth! I'm grateful for that. Otherwise, I would have had to hide it from her, I assume. Then, most likely I would have gotten myself into much trouble by dabbling in witchcraft and other realms and forces that I would have caused major problems. Mom's probably the only one out of my entire family that accepted me for "who" I was before I even "knew" or understood it all. I was outcasted by many/most of my family since I was a little girl.

"Then, she took me to the library when I was about 10 and we checked out books on ESP, psychic abilities, & witchcraft. We read them together and that was where it all really fell into place. "
What a blessing to have been adopted by someone who was that accepting. I know too many who chose to come to the craft via anger/rejection of various christian denominations.

Thanks for reading, Keri! Yes, "traditional" is often confused with
Alexandrian and other traditions. It's just a different tradition, but really, many are quite similar. Trad witches just have a slightly different opinion as far as what magick is appropriate and/or justified. I'll explain a bit more in my next post.

Thanks katray! I'm glad to hear that!
Hope I don't disappoint you! I'll try to keep it away from the boring stuff and just write about the things that may seem more interesting.

Ca88andra,
I don't remember, really. I know at first, Mom was a bit surprised, but then as I continued displaying certain behaviors (according to my parents, pointing out ghosts, telling them stuff I couldn't have known, etc.) my mom figured it out. However, she first took me to like, 3 doctors to make sure I wasn't crazy or physically ill. We visited the eye doctor, the Ear, Nose, & Throat doctor, and a shrink. Then, she took me to the library when I was about 10 and we checked out books on ESP, psychic abilities, & witchcraft. We read them together and that was where it all really fell into place. And, here I am now, a genuine freak!!

Jem, you've got my phone number, right?
I forgot if I gave it to you or not. It's on my website, and Pecan has it to. Let me know and I'll email it to you if ya don't have it. (Better to call me on my cell phone, anyway.)

I guess I have not heard the term "traditional" used in the sense of "familial." I thought "trad witches" were those who follow the Gardnerian or Alexandrian traditions (e.g. "trad"). Learn something new every day! Looking forward to reading more about your experiences.

Fascinating...
I've heard stories from people close to me about misusing such powers. Not a good idea apparently. I will be following your experiences with interest.

Spitfire - I'm curious, how did your family feel about you saying you were a witch from an early age?
