I don't know that so much
time has to pass. I think most people would agree that "Titanic" is a classic, even though it's fairly recent.

I would think that the term classic
would mean a movie from the 1930's through the 1960's. Films with Ginger Rogers, Grace Kelly, Fred Astaire, Bing Crosby, and John Wayne are classics, but what do I know?

Yes people are not given credit for having the intelligence
to work out for themselves what's good and what's not. The other term which is bandied about these days is epic.
