I remember very well
When they booked Hedda Nussbaum, they had to hospitalize her. I had never seen anything like her in my life. Parts of her face were collapsed, her nose, her cheekbones, from Steinberg's beatings. Her lips were split apart so many times, she had developed a permanent hare's lip. Her bones had been broken, her body burned, and on the day they booked her, her back was a deep purple color from a recent beating. She looked like a POW who had just been found by Amnesty International. She had to have a number of surgeries, including plastic. But that being said, I still hold Hedda accountable. Hedda had a wealthy family she could have appealed to. I know her mind was crippled, but her claim about Lisa was that she feared to report Steinberg because she feared for her own life. So she let him kill that child instead? And to this day, she will not take any responsibility for what happened. Everything is about her and how she was victimized. Sorry, but...there is a selfishness in that which is pathological. And Steinberg should have gotten life in prison without parole.

What's interesting is...
that a lot of people believe Hedda Nussbaum, Steinberg's live-in lover, should have served time for not reporting what happened to Lisa in time to prevent her from dying.

And I wanted to puke. They should have kept the jerk in for the maximum 25 years.

Just been reading...
some of your most recent posts. Good stuff. I haven't had the TV or radio on (just been bloggin') so I hadn't heard that Joel Steinberg had been released. Thanks for the update.
