mariantonia,
Good point; well said.

Its difficult to communicate just by the medium of monologue comments. The worst blunder is the critique of another's content matter. Peace to us all.

HEY SPITFIRE! I loved your post! I will heed your words the next time I
comment on someone's post! Words we should all live by!

Man-Boy, "condescending" is the perfect word for it.

Hey SpitFire70
I have known people where I have worked who are constant contrarians or always pleading "devil's advocado"! It is condescending and energy wasting for the most part. They assume, it seems, that maybe the rest of us are  too dim to have thought through our positions. I can accept that with my kids and other youngsters because it is their job to challenge and explore but in adults it is just sad.

Runs at dawn, thanks for the comment
It seems many of us are obviously in agreement about the relentless ball-busters.  Fly Swatter

A million thank you's to ya QuirkyA!!
That was a totally cool compliment and much appreciated.  Oh, btw, I printed out a few of your recent blogs to read at work (sometimes I just don't have the time to read at home) and I'll be commenting on them tonight. Good work!!

LOL. YES. I was agreeing with you, totally.

It's all good...

SpitFire70 --sorry I don't write funny comments. And Tremacc thinks I'm
crude.  But I have forgiven her and now in fact am infatuated with her. love scriber

Man-Boy, thanks for your comments

Hopefully, this blog is taken as how I meant it. Like I said, we all appreciate constructive critisism when we ask for it mostly. However, the point of this blog was these few bloggers do it CONSTANTLY and not just with writing critiques but with Devils Advocation and always trying to "one-up" the writer with their knowledge and opposite opinion. It's facking annoying! Hey, that was my first time saying "facking" too! We've shared a moment here, Man-Boy.

Jemmie, you bitch!!

I can say that cause you're a sister. HA! Okay, Okay, very funny. Now, for the weird part: You said, "Oh, and by the way, someone gives advice, not "advise."  When they are advising, they are giving advice." Holy crap! I just noticed that last night and meant to correct it but got distracted by God only knows what and forgot. So THANK YOU VERY MUCH for reminding me.  Bitch.    You rock!

scriber, who blames you for
"seemingly poor taste"?? I love your writing and have read many of your comments and I find them great. Especially the funny ones!

tremacc,
You're right! My bad. I misread your comment. Sowwy!

posted by SpitFire70 on June 28, 2004 at 5:33 PM | link to this | reply

Yep, I agree
Being corrected all of the time just blows! I admit that I am here to learn and I will readily take advice, but not the kind that comes off making you feel stupid. Last time I checked, there was only one God. Very well put.

Hi SpitFire70...
I agree totally with what you are getting at. I am finding that most criticism is unnecessary. I used to be able to spell well but 34 years of drug abuse have addled me brain somewhat. I think critics should look deep into themselves before they write a single word. No one of us is appointed arbiter of proper spelling, grammar, and syntax, or content. If someone gets the writing bug and submits for publication that is what editors are for. If they like a writer but they need work on style then a good editor will tell them so. As for opinions, trite but true, if you can't say something constructive don't say any facking thing at all.(first time I ever used the fa^%$#* word. I like it!)

posted by man-boy on June 28, 2004 at 2:27 PM | link to this | reply

However . . .
You shouldn’t think like that.  If these types of comments offend you then don’t read them.  You're wasting so much energy complaining about these people's comments!  Who are you to say that their comments suck?  You don't know that they're doing that just to make themselves feel better!

Please choose your words differently next time.  I'm sure your post has offended many people

Oh, and by the way, someone gives advice, not "advise."  When they are advising, they are giving advice.

Good job! And for the record, I agree with you.

I sometimes make comments that I think are funny but others find stupid.

And then I'm naturally blamed for my seemingly poor taste.

posted by scriber on June 28, 2004 at 10:22 AM | link to this | reply

Okay...
No.   Look at my comment again.   I wrote that they are seldom written by professional writers.

Of course, Ca88andra!
Relax all ya want. Besides, from what I know of you, you aren't that type, anyway.

posted by SpitFire70 on June 27, 2004 at 9:35 PM | link to this | reply

tremacc, those same type of comments you've noticed
are quite annoying aren't they? But, professional writers or not, I'm not sure how "professional" these select few actually are; regardless of their comments. Even if they were Steven Spielberg or Stephen King, I'd still be quite annoyed by their responses to so many others' blogs, ya know?

Whew! I can relax again.... *wink*

Mark2556,
Yes, sweetie. The rules changed again. Sorry.  K, yes, dog food IS FOR DOGS. I know it's a hard thing to accept, and maybe I didn't CLARIFY IT enough for ya. I guess I should have REPHRASED my words?

posted by SpitFire70 on June 27, 2004 at 9:26 PM | link to this | reply

I've noticed those kinds of comments too and they usually never come from true professional writers on the site.   I guess they are too busy actually writing both on and off of Blogit.  Very nicely done.

Spitfire, I do read fast. I'm a facking speed reader

Damn, Ariala!!
You commented so fast...you must read fast, too! Thanks, and I hope so, also. But, I hope these "select few" I was referring to know who they are. Unfortunately, they probably won't.
