Jemmie211 . . . .

We are being treated as children, or, we are being taken as patsies.  Neither of those appeals to me.  It is time for a drastic change in power.  That means saying "NO" to both Democrats and Republicans.  I intend to vote Libertarian . . . .

I wish you and your fellow islanders well, Jemmie211 , thanks for your most accurate observations.

I agree

but I also wonder why we aren't given more information.

Like the "reliable sources."  They always tell us the sources are reliable.  But how do we, the public, know this?  Can't they give us a small clue into what these sources are?  Perhaps aids to Osama?  Saddam's friends?  WHO?

And they give us no feeling of security!  "We don't know where or when, but we know they're planning something."

Well, DUH!  Do you really think the terrorists are going to tell us where and when they'll attack?

The very fact that the government tells us there is an attack planned but no other info is enough to push this country into a panic.  I heard one of my neighbors today saying he wanted to buy gas masks so that if we get hit by a gas attack he'd be protected.

But we really don't know what'll hit us -- if it hits us -- and when or where.

In Hawai`i, we all believe that we are an excellent target.  We have so many military bases on our little island of O`ahu, and if we are hit by something, there is nowhere we can flee.  We are stuck.  If anyone attacks, it's all but guaranteed that all air travel will be shut down, thus leaving all residents of the State of Hawai`i stranded.  O`ahu itself have over 1 million people on it.  The other islands, while not as liable to be hit as O`ahu, have many people as well.

So basically, the gov't is telling us we're (all people in the US) sitting ducks.  Isn't that nice?
