A public apology

I know Jim, okohiored, and owe him an apology.  I respect his strength of conviction and appreciate the diversity of opinions he has brought BN.  But, I was in large part the stimulus for our recent war of words.  When I realized where we were going, I tried to get us back--but that does not excuse me for my involvement.

I was angry at one of the bloggers who would write columns belittling others but act like there was something wrong with the perception of anyone who would take offense.  Inevitably for several days I read this blogger say, no offense meant.

I learned to edit in the spoon full of sugar school-  so this just ground on me.  I shared my feelings with Jim, a fine upstanding man from Ohio, who's just trying to add some excitement to his retirement.  He agreed and the rest is history.

However, I need to say from the view of one inside and outside, all of the comment stuff was not them.  There was prodding from some skillfully worded judgment laden blogs, where the writer acts as though the writer is sitting at the top of an ivory tower looking down into the melee, when the truth be told the writer is dropping atomic bombs from the tower via blogs.

AlthoughI may not have been slinging mud, I was as much a part of the negativism as anyone.  If Chris, Jim and whomever want to play games in comments-- go for it.  I sense it is largely tongue and cheek.

But I must admit and accept responsibility for my role in this.  I probably should have kept my feelings silent.  Things would have sorted out.

No flower for me today- M

Thank You Big V
I fell asleep thinking about this sadness and woke up to it.  Thanks for stepping in.  M

Oh Yeah
I saw this coming about a month ago. I made a dreadful mistake and opened my big fat mouth exactly twice and both times it was taken the wrong way. The comments section has become a warzone and I don't like that. I pleaded with Chris to stop his hyperbolic blog and to his great credit, he did exactly that and I applaud him.

I have also taken a 'time-out' for a while, not so much because of the warzone but because I was becoming distracted away from what I truely love to do... WRITE. I pulled all but one of my blogs, including a long time number one blog on writing because I was disgusted with myself for allowing myself to get hauled into this mess. I have picked up more work from here than I have on a site I PAY to be listed.

My absence will be part time until I get the racing sites I do under control (the first two weeks of the season are pure heck!)but when I DO come back, all I intend to do is write. If you read me, cool, if you don't... thats your loss.

I see Jemmie had a blog with the title "Pyschic Jemmie"... if you only knew how many impassioned emails I sent to the BN staff asking them to step in and toss some water on this! I helped a fellow blogger here and long time friend (LeeW) run a chat board on a site and we both knew exactly how this was going to happen. Left to their own devices, people will say things causing some one else to say something, causing three others to rush to that persons defense, and the next thing you know, you have people saying exactly what Jemmie is saying... and what I said... and what EmilyD was saying (although to be truthful.. Emily has a different reason)... and what a few of you have emailed me and said.

I propose that on this wonderous Easter holiday, we all take a few minutes to pause and reflect... on our words... our thoughts... our lives... and make an extra effort to work on your writing and not your kvetching. I love the Christmas holiday but it is Easter that makes me reflect the most. It is truely a time to give of one's self and right now we all need to give a little. We are a diverse community and we will never see eye to eye on many things, but that doesn't mean we need to keep knifing each others throat. At the risk of offending some (and I have never really worried too much about that...), before you post something mean and hurtful... ask yourself... WWJD?

May the joy of the true meaning of Easter be upon you all. Peace.

Not sure what camp I am in, but
take a break Jemmie.  Have a wonderful peaceful weekend.  Just relax.  I really believe all of this will sort out, it has too.  Peace. M
