Thanks!
I'll try that. I'm getting rid of the car anyway.

You can ask
the insurance company to pay you directly and not get the car fixed if you don't want to. Someone hit my (okay my husband's) 1972 Chevelle SS in a Wal-Mart parking lot a few years ago. The insurance company said they had to total the car because they couldn't get the parts to fix it. They offered me $900 and said they would keep the car. I got REALLY IRATE with them--I even threw an ink pen at the jerk adjuster who tried to stare me down. I said, "Look, Mister. This car may not be worth much to you, but it's my way to work. I'm driving the car. I will find someone who can fix it, and you will pay me." The adjuster told me to go back to work and calm down, and, later that day, he called me and told me I could come by to pick up my $1500 check. I kept the money, didn't get the car fixed, and sold the car for $2000 to someone who wanted to restore it. Good luck. Whit
