Of course their are exceptions...
and I extend my sympathies to your mother. Scientifically, however, how can the body gain weight unless sufficient intake provides the raw materials for that weight. That is what needs to be studied to give people like her help. I would not say it about your mother, but if a medical condition is diagnosed, then the feeling can be, "why bother." My sister suffers from that situation with her Thryoid troubles. Thank God, I'm only ugly.

Sometimes Obesity is MEDICAL
As the American Diabetic Society will tell you sometimes Obesity is medical.. not always but there are many medical conditions that can cause a person to gain weight. An under active thyroid gland for one or if you have had cancer in one of your thyrod glands and had to have it removed because it was malignant,as is the case with my mother who has been diabetic for the last 4 years and had a thyroid gland removed in 1976 that left her with a permanant necklace around her neck but she is OBESE and ALIVE so sometimes OBESITY id due to medical reasons!! She has been on every diet there is and it is really sad to see a woman that once weighed 98 pounds soaking wet at 4'11 now weighing 260 |
