Mother Earth

I place my heart against the earth and with the right ear, then the left listen for the stony silence beneath me I hear instead a comforting thump like a gourd filled with nectar many, many layers deep and I know it to be a loving, living thing whose surface we tread upon and dig with tools to plant...
